Looking after your sensors
Sensors can be sensitive and getting them to live for 15 days means taking care of them. The sensor's tiny filament needs to stay in place for it to work properly.
That filament really is tiny!
The sensor uses the filament to attract glucose molecules from interstitial fluid between your face. There’s no needle sat in your capillaries or even your arm. (However, the sensor applicator does use a needle which is retracted after application).
🩹 The filament is held in place by the adhesive pad and an over-patch if you apply one.
💦 Sensor is waterproof but the adhesive may not work as well when wet.
🚿 Be careful around the sensor when drying yourself - a moving towel can easily shift your sensor.
🙅 Protect the sensor from impact.
🚗 Be careful with seatbelts, doors, kids and other things that could move the filament.
🛌 Pay attention to what happens to the sensor in your sleep, you may want to change the location.
